Culinary Arts
Program Description
In the Culinary Arts & Hospitality career major, our focus is the training of valued food service employees. The Culinary Arts & Baking program also provides entrepreneurial training in all aspects of cooking, baking, and hospitality. Students receive training in management, OSHA, ServSafe, sanitation, entrepreneurial skills, and related theory.
Students learn and work in The District Restaurant and Cafe, which offers in-person dining and a to-go counter for baked goods, sandwiches, salads, and more. Since 2021, the students have operated a weekly "Soup Group" program in which customers place orders for soups and desserts that are picked up on Thursdays. In addition, students prepare hundreds of meals a month through a collaboration with Food Link MA to provide meals to people who are food insecure.
