FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

[Springfield, MA, April 4, 2023] – Minuteman High School’s FIRST Robotics Team was part of the winning three-team alliance at the NE District Western New England Event held at Western New England University in Springfield, MA, in March. This was an incredible accomplishment for Team #8604 Alpha Centauri, which is in only its second year of competition after forming in 2020.

The team was one of 36 competing in the event, and was selected by top-seeded teams #176 and #195 to join their alliance in the playoffs based on their consistent and dependable gameplay during the qualifying rounds. The alliance won all their playoff matches and achieved a high score of 168 points, currently the record in New England. The team just learned this week they qualified for the NE FIRST District Championship, which will take place April 6-8 in Springfield, MA.

The students have fundraised most of the cost but are short of the required registration fee of

$4,000. Any donation to support this championship and future competitions is very much appreciated.
