Minuteman High School was featured in a Boston Globe article on January 27 headlined, "The keys to success: Concord non-profit helps match donated cars to those who need a second chance."

Second Chance Cars is a non-profit organization that accepts donated, used cars, which are then repaired by students in high school automotive programs. The cars are then provided to people in need with low-cost, zero-interest loans.

Minuteman has repaired 15 cars over the past two years and has hosted several unveiling ceremonies, when the cars are given to the recipients. (See previous news coverage: WBZ, WCVB, WHDH.)

Automotive teacher Donald Melanson is quoted in the Globe article saying: "It’s a win-win situation. A lot of the repairs the donated cars need are typical of those that the students will be doing once they get out in the trade. This is also giving them a chance to help the general public, and to see the kind of difference that they can make in someone’s life.”
