Sophomores in Minuteman High School's Automotive Technology program on Tuesday, Feb. 8, unveiled a 2008 Honda Accord they refurbished for a U.S. Army Veteran through a collaboration with Second Chance Cars, a non-profit organization based in Concord.
Wandaelis was the 23-year-old veteran who received the car. She served in the Infantry between 2019 and 2020 and suffered an injury, resulting in an honorable discharge. She now works as a nanny for care.com.
The Honda is one of numerous vehicles donated regularly to Second Chance Cars, which works with regional vocational-technical high schools with automotive programs to repair the cars before they are provided to veterans through low-cost loans.
