Letters to Families
August 23, 2022
Greetings, Minuteman Families and Students:
Can you believe summer is almost over? It seems only a short time ago I was driving from North Carolina to Massachusetts moving back home and getting ready to start my new role as your new superintendent of Minuteman Regional Technical School District. Since July I have been listening, observing, and learning about all the great things happening at Minuteman and I am reaffirmed this is right where I belong.
I began my career as a first-grade teacher, but I found my niche in high school, teaching math and science and in various leadership roles. While much of my education career journey was with Boston public schools, my strive for excellence led me to districts in other states these past several years. It was during these years that I solidified my leadership development and proved myself to be an innovative, instructional, and servant leader.
Now I look forward to bringing all that I’ve learned and experienced to the Minuteman community. For those of us who have chosen to serve our children and their families, we have a moral imperative to create safe schools that nurture a sense of purpose, curiosity, and commitment to learning within each young person. We will take advantage of the lessons learned during the pandemic to rethink how we educate. We will think differently and continue to work creatively as we take Minuteman from great to greater. Together, we will mold the lives of compassionate and civic-minded individuals who are socially and emotionally healthy, academically strong, and globally competitive. We thank you for allowing us access to your children so that we may.
As the school year starts next week, I will continue to listen, observe and learn. There will be opportunities for us to get to know each other and to engage in dialogue about what is going well, where we can continue to grow, and how we might continue to push ourselves to greater standards of excellence.
It is my privilege -- and one I do not take lightly -- to be leading such a special district as Minuteman. I can hardly wait for your arrival! In the meantime, please enjoy the last few days of summer vacation.
To ensure the health and safety of our Minuteman community, the latest COVID health guidelines can be found on minuteman.org/covid19.
The best time for new beginnings is now, and so let the adventure begin…
Thank you for choosing Minuteman!
Respectfully,
Dr. Dawson
