Digital Literacy and Citizenship

  • This new course was added in the 2015-2016 school year for all ninth graders!

    This  semester-long course introduces students to the components of digital literacy needed for a 21st century learner. Students learn about essential computer concepts and terminology including operating systems, software, hardware, applications and peripherals. Students learn online skills for research, and become familiar with the basics and the evaluation of online research resources.

    Students learn the basic productive programs to increase competencies in word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations, as well as introduces and familiarize students to web-based productive applications and presentations by assigning online projects. Daily keyboard assignments are provided for students to master touch-typing through online typing games.

    This course emphasizes how students can become responsible digital citizens. Students will develop an awareness and skills in creating a positive and safe online environment. Students will use digital media and environments to communicate and work collaboratively in this course.
