Activities
Although the Alliance has been only in active service for a short run, it is interesting to see the interest, the participation and the ever-growing enthusiasm for the alliance concept. More companies are coming on board each month. As of '04, more than 1000 area companies, directly and indirectly are associated with the Alliance.
Thus far, several companies have assisted various educational members of the Partnership in that they have provided student internships and after-school jobs. Many more companies have agree to do likewise. Technically, the Minuteman School-To-Careers Partnership, (the 'mother' group of the Alliance), has maintained the practice of having job-shadowing days at any given time when the proper opportunity (number of students wish to visit and 'watch' a person in a certain kind of position AND a company who is ready, willing and able to present a willing employee in the desired position) presents itself.

One item that teachers have expressed an interest in developing is a teacher Resource Directory for the entire region which might be available in another year. The purpose of the directory would be to allow teachers to devise lessons that could be built to include certain speakers with relevant occupations for our young people. Employees from alliance member companies will be allowed to sign-up specifying the town and grade and subject levels where they might feel most comfortable providing information concerning their own career choices. The Partnership high school coordinators will then arrange to make the contact and set up the respective employee school visits. In this manner, elements of the real world will be combined or integrated carefully with the planned curriculum.
