Minuteman Alumni Association:

Making The Past Work For The Future

Someone once said: the best way to move forward is to know where you've been. That's pretty much the impetus of the newly formed Minuteman Alumni Association. Since 1978, nearly 7,000 students have crossed the Minuteman threshold clutching high school diplomas and certificates in their individual fields of study. Many of those students went on to colleges, universities or other advanced learning, while many others plunged themselves directly into the working world. And, until recently, there has been little means to reach out to these graduates. But that has changed, and the Minuteman Alumni Association is poised to contribute to the overall well-being of the campus community in a profound way.

Minuteman sees the Alumni Association playing a significant role in many aspects of Minuteman life. Many of those graduates are now established with successful and exciting careers of their own and raising families in many of the communities we serve. Minuteman alumni can also be helpful as we reach out to community leaders to inform them about all that Minuteman has to offer.

Clearly, the effort to identify the whereabouts of thousands of Minuteman graduates is an enormous undertaking. While many of those graduates are still in the area, many have moved as far away as Australia. But Minuteman sees it as just another challenge. There is a concerted effort to locate our alumni. We are finding some alumni right here in our own back yard. However, there are many who have moved a good distance away. In any event, as we find them, they are all very excited about the prospect of joining the Association and finding some way to give something back to their school. Each and every one of our graduates has a unique and exciting story about life after Minuteman to share and so far they are all very excited about the new Alumni Association.
