L2 Spanish 1 5112
This beginning Spanish course is an introduction to the Spanish language and Hispanic culture and geography. Emphasis is on confidence building in elementary conversation, reading and writing, as well as an introduction to the fundamentals of grammar: sentence building, noun and verb agreement, simple verb tenses.

L2 Spanish 2 -5122
Students continue to develop skills learned in Spanish I with more emphasis on refinement of oral expression, reading, writing, and culture studies. Students will build on skills mastered in Spanish 1 to increase their comfort level with the language.

L2 Spanish 3 -5132
In this intermediate Spanish course students will begin to hone oral, written, and reading comprehension skills. Students are introduced to more advanced grammar with an emphasis on proficiency and communication. There is an in-depth study of Hispanic culture with an emphasis on Central and South American countries, and Hispanic-American culture.

L2 Spanish 4 -5142
In this advanced Spanish course students will continue to fine-tune speaking, reading, and writing skills. Special emphasis is on Spanish in the workplace: vocabulary building, and inter-cultural communication skills. Finer grammar points will be covered including irregular and complex verb tenses, pronoun usage, and idiomatic expressions.
L2 French 3 -5232
In this intermediate French course students will begin to hone oral, written, and reading comprehension skills. Students are introduced to more advanced grammar with an emphasis on proficiency and communication. There is more in-depth study of French and Francophone culture, including French-speaking Africa and the Caribbean.

L2 French 4 -5242
In this advanced French course students will continue to fine-tune speaking, reading, and writing skills. Special emphasis is on vocabulary building, and intercultural communication skills. Finer grammar points will be covered including irregular and complex verb tenses, special case pronoun usage, idiomatic expressions, and technical vocabulary.

L2 Latin 1- 5012
An introduction to Latin, this course will cover the fundamentals of Latin grammar, including noun gender, declension, cases; verbs and verb tenses, basic sentence construction and elementary translation. In addition, special focus will be on the Latin derivative of English vocabulary, especially as it applies to technology. Recommended for all students interested in learning the language, as well as for those students who have completed the complement of courses in another language but who would like to continue with foreign language study.

L2 Spanish: Idioma y Cultura 1 -5302
Intended for students with some previous background in Spanish, this course will teach targeted workplace focused communication skills. In addition, the study of contemporary Hispanic-American culture will provide the students with a means of addressing the issues of workplace diversity and multiculturalism. Specific language topics to be addressed will include a review of basic Spanish oral communication, “survival” Spanish vocabulary, “telephone talk”, financial vocabulary, and business Spanish. Cultural topics will include addressing the issues of immigration, citizenship, bilingualism, and cultural literacy.

L2 Spanish: Idioma y Cultura 2- 5322
A continuation of Idioma y Cultura 1, this course will target oral communication and cultural literacy skills. Language topics to be addressed will include retail and shopping vocabulary, “emergency” and health-related Spanish, Spanish for law enforcement, restaurant and culinary vocabulary, and Spanish for the hospitality industry. Culture issues to be addressed will include the role of the family in Hispanic culture, defining cultural terminology, and an introduction to Hispanic-American cultural history.
